Why WAV rather than MP3?
Because a WAV is not re-compressed. If the audio is going back into an editor, each MP3 export would stack another generation of compression artefacts, whereas WAV stays clean through as many passes as you need.
Why is the WAV so much bigger?
It stores every sample uncompressed, roughly ten times an equivalent MP3. That is the price of losing nothing, which is why WAV is for working files and MP3 for distribution.
Is the file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser, which also means a long file is not limited by an upload cap.
What sample rate do I get?
