Montaj is made by a small team, and support goes straight to a person rather than a ticket queue. If something is broken, tell us what you were doing when it broke — that is almost always enough to reproduce it.

Frequently asked questions
The first launch is stuck on a long loading screen. Is it broken?
No. Montaj transcribes on your device, so it downloads a speech recognition model the first time you open the editor. Depending on the model you picked, that is a few hundred megabytes to about 1.5 GB, and it happens once. Later runs start from the cached model and need no network at all. Stay on Wi-Fi for that first download.
Do my videos get uploaded anywhere?
Your video and audio files never leave your device. Transcription, silence detection and audio cleanup all run locally. One optional feature is the exception: when you ask Montaj to suggest B-roll, the textof your transcript is sent to an AI service to write those suggestions — never the video, never the audio. The Privacy Policy names every service involved.
What does Montaj export?
Vertical 1080 × 1920 HEVC, saved to your photo library. There is no watermark, no export limit and no limit on the length of your video.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone running iOS 18 or later.
Which languages can it transcribe?
Montaj detects the language being spoken on its own, so you do not have to declare it. The app’s own interface is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Portuguese.
My captions have the wrong word in them.
Every caption is editable in place, word by word, with its timing preserved — tap the word and correct it. Proper nouns are the usual culprits, and fixing one does not disturb the rest of the line.
I cut the silences and want them back.
Silence removal is a single reversible switch, not a destructive edit. Turn it off and the original pacing returns. Montaj also keeps 100 steps of undo.
How do I report a bug so it actually gets fixed?
Email us with: what you were trying to do, what happened instead, and your iPhone model and iOS version. If it involves a specific video, tell us its rough length and whether it was filmed in the app or imported. Screenshots help more than descriptions.
